We are delighted to announce that BERLINER, directed by Anna Khazaradze, won our prestigious #DocsConnect Taskovski Training Award at When East Meets West.
This award provides mentorship and consultancy on development, festival, marketing, and distribution strategies, depending on the project’s needs, aiming to support exceptional documentary and experimental films in reaching international audiences.
This year, we are thrilled to support this powerful project that addresses the current issues of immigration and technology. The film, centered around Nana, a Georgian translator based in Berlin, who helps asylum seekers share their stories and navigate the challenges of starting a new life, has an important message about the need for real human connection. Nana’s work is currently under threat as German authorities push for replacing face-to-face translators with remote systems.
We are excited to work with the talented team behind this film and look forward to seeing it develop into a powerful piece that will make an impact on audiences worldwide.
