Andrés Bartos Amory

Andrés Bartos (La Paz, Bolivia, 1981) is an award-winning multidisciplinary filmmaker. He has worked as a producer on projects for ARTE, ORF Austria, NPR (USA), Vice News HBO, and CNN International, among others. In 2016, he wrote and produced six hours of interactive audio stories for Detour, a GPS-guided narrative app developed by Frequency Machine in Los Angeles.

In 2018, he joined Passport Podcast as co-producer and co-host, contributing to 38 episodes that explored unusual stories from around the world, reaching nearly 200,000 downloads. His third short film as writer and director, Tamed Gods: The Origins of Abundance, a collaboration with sculptor Carles Piera Claramunt, premiered at the São Paulo International Short Film Festival (2019).

In parallel, after working behind the scenes on La Chana, the award-winning debut by Lucija Stojević, he joined Noon Films in 2018 as a writer, producer, and director. At Noon, he produced the Flamenco episode and directed the Samba episode for the international TV series Generations. He also co-directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the animated short documentary Lost at Sea, about the Rohingya crisis, alongside Stojević.

Andrés has participated in major international industry forums including IDFA Industry Sessions, CPH:DOX, Pixelatl (Mexico), Next Lab (Madrid), and DocsBarcelona, where Pepi Fandango New Talent Award at pitch stage. He was selected for Producers Meet Producers at the Sitges Film Festival (2019) and named one of 12 Development Angels in Europe by the LIM | Less is More script lab (Le Groupe Ouest, 2022). In 2022, he and Stojević were selected for the Next Gen Film Fin Lab (EGEDA) with the project Rita y los vikingos.

He is currently producing the animated magical realism feature A Usina Atrás do Morro, directed by Ricardo Kump & Lucas Abrahão, which received an Honourable Mention from Annecy at Ventana Sur 2024. He is also the screenwriter of all three stories in the upcoming narrative triptych A Dangerous Journey.
