ALEXANDER GOekjian
Alexander Goekjian (b. 1971, Nicosia, Cyprus) is a documentary film editor, DOP, director, and script advisor with over 20 years of experience in the industry. He is based in Amsterdam.
Raised in Paris, France, Alexander holds degrees in History (MA, University of Edinburgh) and Computer Science (MSc, University of Westminster). After beginning his career in London’s new media sector, Alexander embarked on a journey through Eastern Europe, during which he started working for prominent outlets like BBC News and on various independent documentary films as a cameraman and then editor. In 2005, he participated in the prestigious EAVE programme, further honing his skills.
For directors and writers, Alexander is a trusted collaborator, delving deep into each story, to help draw out the creator’s vision into a compelling and cohesive narrative. Alexander’s strengths are particularly evident in complex, personal documentaries.
His notable credits as an editor and script advisor include Recycle (2006), Happily Ever After (2012), The Iranian Film (2014), My Own Private War (2016), The Golden Thread (2022), and most recently Glass, My Unfulfilled Life (2024).
