ALBA SOTORRA

Alba Sotorra is an independent filmmaker and producer, and the founder of the Barcelona-based production company Alba Sotorra S.L. Alba is dedicated to directing and producing films that move her by their authenticity and boldness and showcasing socially engaged stories told from a gender-conscious perspective.

Alba graduated from cinema school at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 2003 and later earned an MA in Cultural Studies in 2008. She has further honed her skills and expertise by participating in several prestigious industry programs, including SOURCES2 (2010), Berlinale Talent Campus (2011), Dokincubator (2014), IDFA Academy (2015), and the EAVE Producers Workshop (2017). She is member of Dones Visuals.

Her notable works include Game Over (2015), which received the VIII Gaudí Award from the Catalan Film Academy and New Talent Award at DocsBarcelona, Comandante Arian (2018), which was nominated for the Gaudí Awards for Best Documentary in 2019, and The Return: Life After ISIS (2021) which received the Best Documnetary – Special Mention at Warsaw International Film Festival in 2021 and Best Documentary Award at Gaudí Awards in 2022.
